Mostyn Music was founded in1984 by Maureen and Tony Cresswell.

Before that, Maureen had been working for many years as a woodwind instrumental teacher in the Tameside, Manchester and Stockport regions, while Tony had been teaching Music and Maths at
Hyde Grammar School.

During the course of their teaching, they discovered that it was often very difficult to obtain music that was tailored specifically to the ages and abilities of their students.

Thus, the pair set up Mostyn Music to meet the growing demand for music that could be structured around pupils and teachers alike.

As well as being one half of the company, Tony has also been extensivley involved with the Brass Band movement . He was Champion Horn Player of Great Britain for two years running and was a member of the National Youth Band from the age of twelve. He later played with the prestigious Fairey Band, Black Dyke and Wingates.

He also conducted many bands in the North of England and adjudicated at music festivals, Basbwe wind band festivals and numerous brass band competitions.

In 2000 Mostyn Music moved from Manchester to the South Coast , but Tony still travels all over the U.K and Europe to promote music which has an emphasis on the education of young musicians.

And while he's away, Maureen keeps the day to day operations of the busisness running efficiently!
